Lunch at Delmer's

Saturday November 13th Delmer Deet hosted a BBQ for Fiat and Lancia affictionnados. Many thanks go to him and his wife for a lovely time. We discussed many things some of which I will note here:

For future ideas I submit these. When we meet we could plan to study one member's car thoroughly, discuss plans, problems, future and history. This car would then be photographed and documented. We could set up trip to see Jim Chandler's stable of cars in Norman.

Delmer sends this article along, a profile of his Lancia Scorpion.

#627 was originally gold with badge interior. It is now red with two tone badge and gold interior. This car has been modified extensively. I do not know its complete history, it was owned by Thomas G Fonte in Torrance California for several years ( I have receipts from 7/88 to 9/94). While Mr Fonte owned the car it was maintained by Ital Meccanica in Huntington Beach Ca. Jim Chandler from Norman Oklahoma purchased the Scorpion Sep 8, 1994. Jim refinished the exterior or the car and painted it red, and refinished the interior. The seats were covered with gold leather. He also lowered the suspension and installed euro style bumpers a series 3 shield grill and fixed square headlights along with the solid nose piece above the grill and lights and he added a double bubble top. Pictures are attached. Delmer Teet Purchased the car Sep.. 13, 1997.

 

The following modifications have been accomplished:

Performance:
A 2 liter Lancia engine 828B(s?)1 031 SN 0262929 was installed by Ital Meccanica along with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection system (Fiat), Bosch Electronic Ignition (Fiat x 1/9 and or Strada) with a Strada distributor mounted on the rear (driver's side) of the exhaust cam. The car also has headers with an Ansa Quadtip muffler. IT has been lowered, and has 14 inch Cromodora (Ferrari style) wheels from an Alfetta. It has Beta eleven inch Brake disc on all wheels, and the Calipers are mounted on extension links to accommodate the larger disk. The front break circuit has an added vacuum boost

 

 


 

Cosmetic:

#627 is Red with Black trim. It has Montecarlo fiberglass bumpers, a Montecarlo series 3 shield grill, with VW _____ square headlights and a solid one piece nose section above the grill and lights. It also has 77 Scorpion wings and a Double Bubble top. It has badge carpet with gold leather seats and badge door panels. The engine compartment and bottom of the car are flat black.
