 Taste of Addison 2002

The trip to Dallas in the morning cool was led by me at a solid 75mph pace and we covered the 170 miles in just less than 3 hours. That 97 Alfa blew by several times to rest up ahead as we caught up.

The cars drove the nearly 400 miles well and the moderate day made driving easy. Delmer flew on the return trip in his Scorp and my Spider and John's X were up to tagging along. The traffic was cruising in the 80's and we let few get past us. My old car gets in a Zone over 4k rpms in fifth but even with the windblock my hat was lifting straight up. Topless at 80+ is what these cars are for. My distributor stayed dry but my 710 cap leaks a bit and I could smell the hot oil sometimes. It needs a new rubber.

I had my car rather clean this time and found myself next to the pristine all original 82 Spider. It is a treat just to compare what mine was and how it has aged. 25 MPG on the way down and better on the return (28?). I can't figure that unless it is a fill-up oddity or topless is better or downhill home.
