JUNE 2000

Lunch in Stillwater:

On April the 8th the Roamin' Chariots met in Stillwater for lunch. Five Spiders showed up at Eskimo Joes for beer and burgers. Ron, Delmer, Mike G., Glen and Csaba all parked at the entrance in a fine display of convertibles. They attracted much attention from patrons as well as passersby.

Ron and Delmer came up from Norman topless in spite of crisp temperatures. Short of avoiding a dog on the road that was about the size of a small moose and getting lost what else is new the trip on back roads was enjoyable. Mike came to town in his new repainted Spider of which he is understandably proud. Afterwards we watched the Fiat Freakout Tapes at Glen's place. Well those of us who didn't take the opportunity to have a short nap saw the Fiats in action on twisty country roads and in the autocross. Csaba was a star of the autocross.

Euro 2000

Ron, Delmer and Yvan went to Euro 2000 in Addison near Dallas in the Spider and Scorpion. We buzzed the back roads mostly and Ron blew a hole in his muffler. Here are some photos.
Also see http://www.maffiacarclub.com for more on this.

This was an old abandoned service station we passed on the way down. The two cars look right at home.

This is the row of Spiders and XI/9s. There were some fine examples belonging to members of the MAFFIA club. Ron's is red at the upper right. It was displayed as a daily driver complete with water spots noisy muffler and grass on the floor mats. In other words the move took all my free time.

This is Greg Gordon's fine modified Fiat 600. Bob and Misty, his parents, drove it since he could not make it. I believe it won in the Fiat category. Yes, there are 3 Scorpions back there.

Healeys

Morgans some built in 1999.

Ron and Delmer getting a prize for farthest distance travelled from Marcie Haas. Ron's hat stayed on at 80 mph top down all the way.
