Come join the Roamin’
Chariot chapter of FLU on our 4th annual Tour de Arkansas, October 8-9-10, 2004, The Fall Foliage Tour. As part of the tour
we will spend some time visiting and sampling at three of the area’s wineries,
Post Familie Vineyards, Mt. Bethel Winery and The Wiederkehr Wine Cellars. This
of course after we take a drive on the “Pig Trail National Scenic Byway” and
the “Ozark Highlands National Scenic Byway”.
Local lodging is in Ozark, AR five miles west of Altus and includes the Days Inn (479-667-2530), Oxford Inn (479-667-1131) and the Ozark Motel (479-667-1500). Additional lodging is available in Clarksville, 20 miles further east.
Lunch on Saturday will
be as we come back into Altus (place to be determined) and Dinner will be at Kelts, an Irish
Pub in the center of town with good food and reasonable prices and a selection
of beers from the British Isles.
The scenic drive will follow the route outlined on the map to the left. We will depart from Ozark at 10:00 a.m. and proceed to the “Pig Trail National Scenic Byway” Rt. 23, approximately 30 miles, then turn onto SR16 for about 20 miles, then south on the “Ozark Highlands National Scenic Byway” Rt. 21 for another 30 miles, then back to Altus via Hwy. 64 for a total of about 110 miles.
