Ron's Story:
I believe that this
was my personal best MOFLO since we seem to know the way now and
can ride out any bumps. The weather kept blowing in with thunder
storms but nothing was stopped and it made for many wipe downs
of the cars. There were many new faces and many familiar. We owned
the motel for whole time. I am in awe of Jon and Steve and Laura
driving from the East - we will reciprocate.
The plaques and name tags are to be treasured- Ken Dickson. The BBQ and picnic, yummy (Allen and Lynn Lofland) Vick AutoSports for auction donations and Csaba (remember, he was ours first). The families who make the event honest. The wrench-turners who do magic to make something special of these old cars. Lois, the hotelier with the hot rod truck.
I returned to Oklahoma through
Arkansas since the interstate was boring me. A super drive through
those rolling high country
vistas and still Hwy 9 has a two hour section of 2lane blacktop
70mph no cars or trucks that is a joy to navigate. The top was
down the whole way - 8 1/2 hours. It added 2 hours to the trip.
The big block ran heroically but I did pop a headlamp bulb on
the way there. Mike Greer please take a bow for your time and
pluck in organizing most of this event.
