The trip from St. Louis was about 250 miles of top down easy cruising. It was amazing how many people had to wave, or give a smile and thumbs up out their car window on the trip to Osage Beach. We had beautiful weather, and the winding roads around the park grounds were classic Fiat country. The only damage was some sunburn (check out the right knee below!). The trip home was with the top up.
This car, for lack of a better name called
"Red", is a 1971, 1608. This is my fourth Fiat Spider.
I've had a Fiat in one condition or another since 1968. This car
was purchased from its third owner in Denver, CO in August of
2000. It is an "older" restoration and is due for some
attention. Recent projects since I pruchased the car, include
new dash, carpets, seats, and different wheels and tires to make
it cosmetically more attractive. More information about this car
can be found at: http://www.kendickson.com/car/Fiat.html.
As the car was an unknown quanity, my wife Karen drove a chase vehicle loaded with clothes, cooler, and Pal the wonder dog. While the Fiat never gave a moments problem, it turned out to be a good idea, as neither of us could part with the pup for the three days. The hotel never complained. and it was nice to have a cooler near by. Pal, wants more sessions down at the lake!
MOFLO was a great opportunity to meet other folks that like Fiats (and Lancias). I finally got to put a face on some of those people I had talked with on the phone or read posts on the Mirafiori forum. And met a few that I didn't even know were in my own home town. Sadly it was over before it really had a chance to begin. We could have taken a week just for the BS sessions. It just makes you look forward to next years event even more.
